Information on Hygiene

Admission Rules

Please arrive punctually, this does not mean too early or too late. This will help to avoid crowds at the entrance and to keep the distance regulations. For example, if you have bought a ticket for 5 pm, you can arrive at the entrance between 5 pm and 5.30 pm.

Highly frequented areas such as catering and sanitary facilities are regularly disinfected. Spread over the entire site, there will also be sufficient stations for hand disinfection.

Distance Control

Please keep a distance of 1.50 metres to people who are not part of your family or household.

At the entrance and on the Christmas Garden site, all employees and visitors must wear a mouth and nose protector. This applies to both indoor and outdoor areas. If you do not have a mouth and nose protector, you can purchase one on site.
Scarves, cloths or other textiles are not sufficient.

Personalised Ticketing

In order to be able to trace possible chains of infection, we as promoters are obliged to record your name and contact details. We use computer-controlled, personalised ticketing. In doing so, we observe both the relevant requirements of the authorities and the data protection regulations in accordance with the DSGVO. Children’s tickets must also be personalised and must contain all the necessary information. Only a personalised ticket then authorises you to enter. We ask you to present the purchased tickets and a photo document (identity card, driving licence, etc.) at the entrance.
If you are unable to attend on the day of the event, you can change your print@home or mobile ticket in your booking account at The re-personalisation will be done online.
If the ticket was sent to you by post, it will be re-personalised on site at the box office. There, you or the new visitor in question would enter the previous ticket and all the above-mentioned details of the new ticket holder. You can find the form here.

Public Security and Hygiene Concept

With an increased security and steward staff as well as a professional admission organisation, we take the security requirements which have been tightened over the past years into due account on the basis of current standards as well as the hygiene and distancing recommendations (more information). In the interests of a quick admission, we kindly ask you not to take along large bags.

General Information

Admission Times

To allow you an experience full of atmosphere, the admission is limited for visitors per 30 minutes. Please show up at the admission time shown on your ticket and pass the entrance within the half hour mentioned on your ticket. Example: if you have bought a ticket for 5 pm, you can show up for admission between 5 pm and 5.30 pm.

The evening box office closes at 9 pm. Last admission to the Christmas Garden Hannover and to the trail is at 9 pm. We ask for your understanding that the security services will inform the visitors still on the trail from 9.45 pm onwards that the Christmas Garden will close at 10 pm.

Animal Compounds and Animal Protecton

Access to the animal compounds is not part of the itinerary and they remain closed. You can visit the animal compounds during their regular opening hours.

The welfare of the animals at Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover always comes first. Every day trained animal keepers and veterinarians look after the well-being of their charges. During events at the Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover, strict attention is always paid to ensuring that the animals’ well-being is not compromised. The Christmas Garden takes place during the winter months. During this time, the animals of the zoo are used to visiting the inner areas of their stalls during the hours of darkness. The light installations are located in the visitor area and the green areas. Installations inside the enclosures are not provided in the presence of animals. Sounds and lights are not alien to the animals. Therefore, a zoo illuminated in the evening does not impair the well-being of the animals.

Bicycles and Sleighs

Unfortunately bicycles and sleighs are not allowed in the area at the Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover. Please keep in mind that there are no bicycle racks inside the area either.

Day and Annual Tickets of the Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover

Since the Christmas Garden is a special event at the Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover, the day and annual tickets of the zoo do not grant any access.

Discount for Pupils, Students and Seniors

Pupils, students and senior citizens aged 65 and over receive reduced admission from Monday to Thursday (except public holidays and between 21 December bis 30 December). The reduction can only be granted upon presentation of an appropriate ID.

We kindly ask for your understanding that dogs (including on a leash) and other animals are not admitted to the Christmas Garden. This does not apply to certified assistance dogs.

Ticket Information and Return of Tickets

Children (under the age of 6) have free access to the Christmas Garden. The children receive, however, a free-of-charge ticket so that the precise number of visitors can be checked.
In our online ticket shop you have the possibility to acquire print@home and mobile tickets. You can buy these until shortly before the event and take them along with you on your mobile phone or as a printout.

Please note that in the event of loss of the ticket, no replacement or additional printout will be possible. In the same way a return or exchange of tickets is not possible. In accordance with § 312g Para 2 Sentence 1 No. 9 BGB (German Civil Code) there is no right to revocation when acquiring tickets despite the basic existence of a distance selling transaction. This unfortunately also means that when buying tickets the two-week right of revocation and return is completely excluded.

If you have any questions about tickets you have already purchased, please contact the ticket provider

The (non-guided) tour is recommended trail and is approximately 2 kilometers long. Depending on your time of stay it takes approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Of course you can have breaks on your way and extensively admire our installations or stay longer at our photo points. Toilets and catering are likewise available along the way.

Visitors with Disabilities

Adult visitors with disabilities need a ticket for adults. Children with disabilities need a ticket for children. Upon presentation of a severely disabled person’s identity card (mark B), an accompanying person will receive free entry to the Christmas Garden. The accompanying person does not need a ticket and can pass through the entrance with the visitor.

The path is barrier-free and therefore wheelchair accessible. There are handicapped accessible toilets on the site.

Weather and Clothing

Christmas Garden Hannover takes place at any weather – including rain. You should be aware of this when purchasing a ticket. Any return of tickets in case of bad weather is unfortunately excluded as long as there is no acute danger for visitors. The Christmas Garden is an outdoor event. Please think of weatherproof clothing and solid footwear.
