Questions and answers about Christmas Garden Dresden

Tickets

Children up to and including 5 years of age receive free admission to the Christmas Garden. From the age of 6, children require a ticket, which can be booked in our ticket shop.
Admission for children under 14 years is only permitted when accompanied by an adult.

Yes, schoolchildren, students and senior citizens aged 65 and over are entitled to reduced admission from Monday to Thursday (except on public holidays and between 19 December and 01 January). The discount can only be granted on presentation of an appropriate ID at the entrance.
If you have a schlösserlandKARTE, you will receive a 10% discount when purchasing tickets at the "Alte Wache" Visitor Centre and at the Christmas Garden box office.

Yes. Adult visitors with disabilities require an adult ticket. Children with disabilities require a ticket for children. On presentation of a severely handicapped ID (sign B), an accompanying person receives free admission to the Christmas Garden. The accompanying person does not receive a ticket and must fill out a visitor data collection form beforehand to track possible chains of infection. Only then can the accompanying person pass the entrance with the visitor.

Up to a group size of 20 people you can book your tickets via our ticket page. From a group size of 21 people, please send us an enquiry.

Yes, tickets are also available at the box office. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance at a lower price, as popular time slots may be sold out and there may be waiting times. The box offices at the main entrance to Festung Ehrenbreitstein (Visitor Centre) and at the cable car (valley station) will be open on all match days. The box office is open from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Yes. If you are prevented from attending on the day of the event, you can change the name of your print@home or mobile ticket in your booking account at myticket.de. The reassignment takes place online. If you have received your ticket by post, it will be reassigned at the box office. Please bring the completed reassignment form with you; you can download it here.

No. If the ticket is lost, no replacement or reprint is possible. Likewise, a return or exchange of tickets is not possible. Pursuant to Section 312g, paragraph 2, sentence 1, no. 9 of the German Civil Code (BGB), there is no right of revocation for the purchase of tickets despite the fundamental existence of a distance selling transaction. This means that the two-week right of revocation and return is completely excluded when purchasing tickets.

If no more tickets are available online for a time slot, it is sold out and no more tickets are available at the box office either.

General information

Yes, you are allowed to bring a pram/handcart.

Yes. There are barrier-free toilets on the premises.

If you have lost something in the Christmas Garden, please send us an email with a description of the lost item.

Yes. The Christmas Garden takes place in all weathers – including if it rains. Please be aware of this before purchasing a ticket. Tickets cannot be returned due to bad weather, as long as there is no acute danger to our guests.

There are barrier-free paths for visitors:inside with wheelchairs or strollers, yet the natural conditions on site can be a challenge.

You are cordially invited to photograph our installations. Of course, you may bring a tripod. We would be delighted if you capture the special atmosphere of the Christmas Garden and share your impressions with us on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok under #christmasgarden. Please understand that for safety reasons, photography with drones is not permitted. At our event, photography and filming may only be done for private purposes. Recordings for commercial/commercial purposes are not permitted.

No. The exhibition rooms are not part of the tour and remain closed in the evenings. In the winter season, guided tours of the Castle Museum take place every weekend on the hour between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

No. For safety reasons, bicycles, sledges, balance bikes and other children's vehicles may not be taken onto the Christmas Garden grounds.

Yes. Wheelchairs are available for hire. Please reserve a wheelchair in advance by sending us an email. The wheelchair will be provided for you at the "Alte Wache" entrance.

No. Please understand that dogs (even if leashed) and other animals may not be taken into the Christmas Garden. An exception is made, of course, for officially registered assistance dogs (guide dogs, etc.).

No. Pillnitz Palace & Park day and annual tickets are not valid as the Christmas Garden is an event that takes place in the evening hours at Pillnitz Palace & Park. Please note that the palace park closes at 4:00 p.m. in the period from 17 November 2022 to 15 January 2023. Access with day and annual tickets is no longer possible after 4:00 p.m.

To ensure an atmospheric experience for all guests, the admission time is staggered by 30-minute intervals. Your ticket will show the admission time. Please pass by the entrance within the half hour indicated. Example: If you have bought a ticket for 5:30 p.m., then you can arrive for admission between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Of course you can stay longer than 30 minutes in the Christmas Garden.

The Christmas Garden is an open-air event and the winter evenings can get very cold. We therefore recommend weatherproof and warm clothing as well as sturdy shoes. Please also bring an umbrella if necessary.

Gastronomy

Yes. Our varied culinary provision awaits you along the circular trail at snack stands decorated for Christmas that invite you to take a short break during your magical journey.

The purchase of food and beverages at some food stands is possible only with cash.

Yes, we would be happy to host your Christmas party in the Christmas Garden. You can find more details and information here.

The value of the voucher is 10,00 € and can only be exchanged for a coupon sheet at the first, signposted hut at the entrance (Neues Palais). The coupon sheet can be redeemed flexibly at all huts in the Christmas Garden Dresden and is valid for the purchase of any food and beverages. Cash payment is not possible.

COVID-19

Currently, there are no testing and verification requirements for admission to the Christmas Garden. We are looking forward to your visit!

Christmas Garden will once again provide excitement this year and guarantee a contemplative open-air experience thanks to an extensive hygiene concept. Please inform yourself about the applicable hygiene measures before your visit.(Current information about our hygiene concept).
We are meeting the increased security requirements of the past few years with increased steward and security personnel and a professional admission organization, taking into account current standards. To ensure speedy admission, please do not bring any large bags with you.
